Next Generation Nelson

Hello, My name is Kristen Nelson. I have been teaching Middle School Science in Lynn Massachusetts since 2014. After my first full school year the Next Generation Science Standards were implemented in my district. Since then, I have participated in and instructed many district wide PD's that have allowed me to "unpack" every middle school science standard. My classroom experience has changed from year to year, but the bulk of my career has been spent teaching 6th grade science. I have also taught 7th grade science, a level one and two English Language Learner Science Cohort and more recently a STEAM Supplemental Course. My 6th and 7th grade science classes follow the inclusion model which is comprised of both general education students and special education students.. I hope my various classroom experiences as well as my extensive knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards will deliver a product that will help with your day to day classroom activities! My teaching style incorporates a lot of group work, especially hands on labs. I find that students learn best by doing, so I try to keep my class as hands on as possible.
