I currently teach 5th grade beginning band in Palo Alto, California! I have previously taught students in middle school, high school, and college. I will soon be finishing my first decade as a full time teacher!

The Beginning Skills Book– The beginning skill books are designed to help beginning band students get started on their instruments during the first 2-6 weeks of school. Pictures, written instructions, video support, and family oriented assessments help students learn all 10 skills.  For the past 6 years, we have been using and developing these books with our own beginning band students to help them correctly learn the basics of their instruments during the first 6 weeks of school. Using clear pictures, text, and videos (embedded with QR codes), all students have the support they need when starting their instrument. Upon completion of all 10 skills, they are ready to start any method book or songs that you enjoy! Our goal is to share this resource to "aide" music teachers in their quest to help all students learn and enjoy their instruments during a typical year or even distance learning during a pandemic.
