The 10 Beginning Skills & Music Theory Bundle for All Beginning Band Instruments

The 10 beginning skill book bundle is for full band instrumentation and was designed to help beginning band students get started on their instruments during the first 2-6 weeks of school. Pictures, written instructions, video support, and family oriented assessments for mastery help students learn all 10 skills. Upon completion of all 10 skills, they are ready to start any method book or songs that you enjoy! Our goal is to share this resource to "aide" music teachers in their quest to help all students learn and enjoy their instruments during a typical year or even distance learning during a pandemic. This skills packet will give your students the confidence they need to succeed as they learn a new instrument. After using different method books, and finding that none truly discussed how to arrive at page 1, we decided to create the skills book.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

• All 13 beginning skill books in a PDF format (ranging 14-18 pages each) that show and explain the basics for navigating a band instrument. Books included are Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Percussion Kit, Percussion, Tone/Desk Bells, & the Teacher Edition (a reference guide). All books have corresponding skills with one another except the percussion books. The percussion book has different skills as it teaches the beginning percussion instrument skills for 8 different instruments (snare drum, bass drum, crash cymbals, suspended cymbal, triangle, mallet & keyboard instruments, tambourine, and timpani).
• The music theory book bundle is designed to help beginning instrumentalists learn to read notes and rhythms before getting to a method book. We have used this packet along with our 10 beginning skills book for many years and love it. Our goal is to share this resource to "aide" music teachers in their quest to help all students learn and enjoy their instruments during a typical year or even distance learning during a pandemic. This rhythm packet will give your students the confidence they need to succeed as they learn a new instrument. The rhythm book (12 pages) isolates and emphasizes reading rhythms only and the note reading book (10 pages) was designed to help students learn the beginning ranges for their specific instrument. Without overwhelming students with too many pages, we have found that these activities and progression allows students to learn while learning the basics for their instruments.

We appreciate that all teachers have their own style, teaching method, method book, and goals. For the past 7 years, we have been using and developing these books with our own beginning band students to help them correctly learn the basics of their instruments during the first 6 weeks of school. Using clear pictures, text, and videos (embedded with QR codes), all students have the support they need when starting their instrument. This set of books was designed to work for any program and method of teaching. The photos and videos in these books are of professional musicians and teachers.
