I have had the pleasure of working with 1st graders in Park Slope, Brooklyn, a 4th and 5th grade bridge class in Harlem, a 4th grade class in the Bronx. I now teach 4th grade in the Los Angeles area.
I use the Reading and Writing Project from Teachers College, Fountas and Pinnell, CAFE Reading and other programs to guide my teaching. My lessons are written to slowly release responsibility to students (I do, we do, you do). I use Responsive Classroom for management along with Lee Cantor. I believe in a child centered classroom where the students do the heavy lifting and the teacher steps back to allow learning and discovery. My classroom has mini lessons, independent practice, guided reading, conferencing and work stations
Only the honor of working with my students :)
