TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm Lisa Jackson, and I've been teaching since 1996. My products help you "Mind the Gap" between high school and college English language arts.

I taught at the University of North Texas for 21 years, then transitioned to high school teaching for three years, and went back to college teaching. My specialty is 19th century British literature, especially the works of Charles Dickens, and a secondary specialty in Romantic poetry. However, I've taught virtually every era of British and world literature, as well as more than 150 college writing courses including composition, dual credit, expository writing, and technical writing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Relationships are key. I love working with students and getting to know them so I can help them achieve their goals.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I "fell in love" with Charles Dickens when I was just six years old, after my parents took me to see the film version of the musical "Oliver!" I was mesmerized by the story, and decided then and there that Charles Dickens was my favorite author. Two years later, my uncle took me to see the film "Scrooge," a musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol. When my mother told me that Dickens wrote this story as well, I was convinced that he must have been the greatest writer in the whole world. I was hooked.
