TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught middle school and high school math for 8 years before switching to special education. After 3 years in special education I was asked to take over my school's new computer science program which I have been teaching for 3 years now.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I once had a student tell me, "You're the most interesting boring person I've ever met". That pretty much sums up my personality and teaching style. I'm not over-the-top but still keep things entertaining. I think a good rapport with my students is very important for both their academics and behavior.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

high school accelerated math and science programs, high school honor roll, high school all state jazz band, high school soccer state champions, college deans' list

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's in mathematics with a specialization in finance and insurance from Penn State in 2005, PA teaching certification for 6-12 math obtained in 2010, MD teaching certification for 7-12 math obtained in 2013, MD teaching certification for special education in 2014, MD teaching certification for computer science in 2017, Masters in Education obtained in 2020.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

In addition to math, music, and cooking I also enjoy and participated in soccer and martial arts. I originally went to college for physics before switching to math to become an actuary. Toward the end of college I tutored math at the local high school and discovered a passion for teaching. Shameless plug: My wife sews and sells cloth diapers. If you use them and it came from buggabuggaboutique then my wife made them. They are the best cloth diapers out there and I would never go back to disposable diapers. (although I'm a bit biased)
