TEACHING EXPERIENCE

16 years experience teaching all kinds of science: physical science, physics, forensics, astronomy, anatomy, and biology

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to give students experience, then draw the knowledge from that experience. When they have something concrete to reflect upon, scientific ideas aren't as much of a stretch as when they are just presented without context. I taught 9th grade physical science for 14 years and I find there are so few unique resources for this class. Activities and worksheets for the content are often aimed at younger students or upper level physics and chemistry students. I aim to create activities with enough complexity that they are suitable for high school, but that still cater to the still maturing brain. I have also recently started teaching biology and have moved my love for creating materials for students into this new subject.
