Lauren Landry

This is my 10th year teaching. I student taught second grade inclusion and special ed. resource. From there, I taught 1st grade academically advanced. My next year, I taught 4th grade science and social studies. Then I was the 5th grade special ed./ inclusion teacher. I co-taught all subjects with the general ed. teachers. Next, I worked with 4th and 5th grade special ed. students working below grade level, 4th grade inclusion, and did reading and math interventions. The last two years, I taught reading and social studies for 3rd graders. The next three years were spent in 4th grade reading and writing, and this year, I am back in third teaching social studies and writing. I've moved into so many different positions, and that's forced me to adapt and grow, especially my experience working with special education students.

Anything that works! Working with special education students (all students, for that matter), I have to try a little bit of everything to best meet the needs of my kids. I prefer hands on learning, but I know that drilling works for some skills. I LOVE technology, and incorporate it as much as possible. I sing and chant with my students all the time. Like I said, I'll do anything!

2012-2013 Teacher of the Year, school level

I graduated from the University of New Orleans in December 2009, with dual certification in Mild/Moderate Special Education (gr 1-12) and Early Childhood Education (PK-3). I then completed requirements for an add-on certification in Elementary Ed (1-5).

In addition to my school children, I have two offspring. They have completely rearranged my priorities for the better. My husband and I have been married more than 8 years. I love my family with all of my heart!
