TEACHING EXPERIENCE

-I have been a teacher for 8 years in 3 different countries- the US, China, and Colombia. I am officially back on US soil teaching 6th grade ELA in a Title 1 Middle School. -I have taught Preschool, Kindergarten, Third, Fourth, and now Sixth! -While teaching overseas, I still used the CCSS and NGSS. I have also used Canadian standards and the Virginia SOL. If I have learned anything teaching these different standards, it's that they're more alike than different and that good teaching (and good materials!) shine through it all. -I have my Bachelors in Education and my Masters in Administration.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Differentiated with hands-on learning. I believe in facilitating learning rather than direct instruction.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Beginner teacher of the year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was raised in North Carolina and attended UNC - Chapel Hill (go Heels!). I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I then attended Appalachian State University and received my Masters degree in School Leadership and Administration in 2017.
