Description

Student led data binders are becoming more and more popular in classrooms these days. The reason for this is that research is continuing to show that students who track their growth become more invested in their learning goals which in turn creates more active learners. Why not get our students started on this track in kindergarten?

This binder is designed to work with bingo markers (my preference!) or crayons - students can stamp or color in this entire notebook of data that spans the entire year of kindergarten, and is aligned to the common core!

In this download, you will find 57 pages of:
-Sight words: both dolch, fry, and my school's lists are provided for you to choose from
-Identification of upper case letters
-Identification of lower case letters
-Identification of letter-sounds
-Name writing growth per quarter
-Independence and self help goals
-Shape identification
-Number writing
-Number recognition
-Color word recognition
-Addition facts
-Subtraction facts
-3 different binder cover sheets

As well as graphs for:
-The number of letter sounds known
-The number of sight words known
-Reading level growth
-The amount of numbers a student can write to 20 and to 100
-How high a student can count by 1s
-How high a student can count by 10s
-The amount of numbers a student recognizes
-The number of words a student can read per minute

(With the graphs, I recommend boxing in the part students should then color in, at least for the first half of the year!)

For writing, you will find:
-Writing rubrics, one for the first marking period and a second for the rest of the year
-3 different writing sheets

Additionally, there are "STAR" sheets for literacy and math learning objectives with assessment cards for the teacher to help determine if a student has mastered that particular skill. Some star skills are identifying parts of a book, rhyming, ability to count on from a specific number, and other information students are expected to learn, as per the common core standards.

If there is ANYTHING you truly feel should be included in this binder, as per the common core state standards, please email me and let me know! I will absolutely make that page for you and update this file.

Thank you so much for purchasing my data binder for kindergarten students! Have a wonderful day!
