I am entering my 12th year in education. I have taught both kindergarten and first grade. I spent the last few years as an instructional coach for my district but I've recently made the move back to the classroom. I'm excited to be back in Kinder!
My approach to planning and delivering lessons focuses on a high level of active cognitive engagement. My goal with each lesson is to connect to the student's prior knowledge and provide a hands-on experience for the students to be active participants.
Campus Teacher of the Month (January 2012, September 2012, and March 2014) District Teacher of the Month (March 2014) Campus Professional Specialist of the Year (2015, 2019) 212 Degree Medallion Recipient (2015-2016)
I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2008. Whoop! I recently graduated with a masters in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University.
I love to do freelance work (writing and editing curriculum, creating products). When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our five-year-old son Parker and our two-year-old daughter Kinley.
