TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a Teacher for Students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and will soon also teach students who are DeafBlind and Visually Impaired both itinerant and in a resource room at the High School Level. Special education and sensory impairments are my passion, but as I also co-teach the core content areas, I simply enjoy teaching in every capacity.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a hands on teacher. Many of my lessons are hands on or active in some way. My philosophy is for my students to be engaged and learn through guided exploration. I am all about creative things and having fun while learning.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Outstanding Student Teacher Award from Valdosta State University

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I completed both my Bachelors and first Masters degrees in Deaf Education at Valdosta State University. I am not pursuing my second masters and certification in DeafBlindness and Visual Impairments at Texas Tech University through their distance learning program. Both schools are amazing and I would recommend them to everyone!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a mother of an amazing and beautiful little girl and live with my husband, daughter, two dogs and two cats in Marietta, GA. Along with teaching, I enjoy drawing, clay crafts, and sewing.
