TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Twenty-four years of elementary and middle school teaching experience including: science teacher for grades 3 - 8, math/technology teacher for grades 5 - 8, multi-age clusters for grades 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8, self-contained classrooms for grades 3, 5 and 6, drama assistant, musical director, and science fair coordinator.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in Howard Gardner’s Theory of the Multiple Intelligences, which leads me to vary the opportunities my students experience throughout the day. Differing the instruction method, I hope to shift each learning experience to touch all learning styles and intelligences. Children need lessons that allow them to actively participate, move, inquire and respond.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My own passion for the arts inspires me to integrate aspects of them with all subject areas whenever possible. Drama, music, painting, photography, pantomime and more. Having grown up along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, I've grown to love learning about (and collecting) rocks and minerals. Geology is FUN to me! I'm taking a year off of teaching to farm organically and learn hands-on how to grow healthy produce that is chemical free.
