I am a Canadian teacher with a passion for student-centered learning. I am 2nd year teacher in a self-contained grade 4 private school located in Downtown Toronto. I graduated in 2019 with a Master of Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. My teaching experience ranges across all K-6 grades and at varying institutional levels.
My teaching style follows an active and student-centered learning approach. It is my belief that viewing the child as competent, whole, and resourceful, while providing opportunities for students to develop their own questions, collaborate with their peers, foster initiative, and assume a responsibility for their learning are central to instilling the desire for lifelong learning and personal achievement. My goal is to co-create a learning community that recognizes each student’s power and potential. For this to happen, I believe that learning needs to be self-directed, personalized, culturally-responsive, and reflect the Universal Design for Learning, while providing multiple modes of expression. Through instilling a growth mindset, I am committed to flourishing alongside my students as we, together, become a strong community of socially, culturally, linguistically, and academically diverse individuals dedicated to lifelong learning. My approach focuses on constructive practices where students can feel safe taking risks and exploring their creativity as they discover their own identities in relation to the world around them.
