TEACHING EXPERIENCE

With over 25 years of teaching experience I have explored and experimented with every way possible to plan, organize and keep my many dance classes. I wanted an easy and manageable tool to save classes and be able to easily reference them during my class and in the future. Dance Class Planners do just that! With Editable Drop Down Menus and text boxes for writing my combinations, I am able to create, save and take my all classes with me anywhere! Adobe Acrobat Reader opens my files and allows editing on the fillable fields. With Adobe Reader Mobile it saves to my iPad and then I can see the class while I am teaching. No more papers!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Dance Class Planner Ballet Beginner to Advanced is divided into six editable areas: 1- Class Details: Name, Date, Time, Class Number and Studio 2- Welcome Activities with a drop down menu that allows you to choose common activities or type you own! 3- A text box for typing your Class Theme and/or Goals for the Class 4-Barre Exercises with drop down menus populated with plies, tendus, grand battements, etc. This drop down menu also allows you to type the name of your own exercise if you prefer. To the Right of this Drop Down Menu is text box for you to note your CD track or name of song. 5-Center Exercises offer class specific steps for you to choose or you can type your own. 6- Reflection Activities encourage you to note overall feedback from the class, reminders, handouts and Reverence. Save your PDF with your class name to re-use this form over and over for every class you teach. You'll never wonder what combination you did last week, last month or last year! MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I had the great fortune to study ballet under some of the most noted Balanchine Proteges. My ballet training and 14 year career with KC Ballet gave me the desire to share my love of dance with as many children as possible! I studied Ballet with Todd Bolender Diana Adams and Una Kai at the Kansas City Ballet School. I attended Summer iNtensives at School of the American Ballet studying with Alexandra Danilova, Stanle Williams and more.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

As the first graduate of the Kansas City Ballet School, she enjoyed a successful fourteen year career as a professional dancer. During this time she was chosen to further her skills and passion for dance by teaching in the company's ballet school. Kim opened MTSD so she could continue to share her love of dance with all of her wonderful students. In 2007 Midtown School of Dance and KCYA formed a partnership to offer ballet, jazz, modern, tap and hip hop classes at The Community School of the Arts on the St. Teresa's campus in Brookside. In addition to teaching ballet to students ages 3 to adult, Kim creates the dance class schedule, hires instructors, plans and choreographs performances and develops curriculum.
