I have taught Language Arts in grades 7 & 8 for over 20 years. My experience spans all types of learners: ELD, at-risk, grade level, and honors. All my products have been used and tested in my own classes over the years. I have redeveloped and refined my lessons and activities in order to engage students and increase learning.
My instructional style is student-centered. I'm always thinking about how to make content accessible to students by engaging them in interesting ways to think and learn. All my lessons will allow students to work on their skills with the broader goal of critical thinking.
Besides being a classroom teacher for over 20 years, I have also been an academic coach in the area of literacy and a teacher trainer for over 10 years. I love to support teachers and share instructional strategies that lead to higher engagement of students and a love of learning.
I have taught English in grades 6-8 for over 20 years. All of my experience has been in high poverty, at-risk populations teaching intervention and ELD students. The last few years I have had the opportunity to teach Honors English which has allowed me to broaden my scope and learn to teach students of all abilities.
I enjoy living in Southern California with my husband, two kids, and dog Coco.
