I am an upper elementary language arts and social studies classroom teacher who enjoys creating thoughtful, content-rich resources to share with my fellow educators. In addition to teaching in grades 5-9 classrooms, I have also worked in children's book publishing, workforce development, and freelance writing and editing, most recently for the Ohio Historical Society's award-winning Ohio As America online history textbooks.
My students respond best when they see a connection in what they are learning to what they have experienced or want to experience. Therefore, my teaching style is based on making material relevant to students' lives while challenging them to problem solve & take ownership of their own learning. We focus on identifying how we learn best so I use many different types of activities in my classroom. I try to help students figure out not how smart they are, but rather how they are smart.

There is no higher compliment than when a fellow teacher chooses to use one of my resources in his or her classroom. I am happy to help provide you with a little less prep and a little more time with your students.
