I have almost 20 years teaching high school chemistry in the Los Angeles Unified School District. I am a National Board Certified Teacher and have been a teacher mentor, avid Donors Choose user, and experience with multiple leadership roles at the school site level. I currently teach a diverse group of artistic students at a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come from all over the city to our public high school to receive a top-notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual arts, theater or media) and go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.
My teaching style is very inclusive because I believe that anyone- no matter their background- can learn science. I incorporate arts-integration, problem solving skill development, differentiated assignments, and multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning into my classroom. I want students to think, question, and develop solutions to problems in and out of the classroom. I recognize that not every student I work with will go on to become a world-renowned scientist (although I hope some will!) so I make sure that students learn the skills in my class that they will use to become successful adults in any field of study.
