I began teaching right out of college in a small school district in Ohio. It was there I first taught double blocks, with both gifted and special needs students. After a year in Ohio, I took a leap of faith and moved to Orlando, Florida. Since moving to Florida I have taught 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Currently, I teach 10th grade Honors English and AP Language and Composition at one of the top high schools in my district. Last year, I received an award for having some of the most-improved test scores in our department.
I love to look outside of the box. I've never been a huge fan of black and white worksheets, or lectures and notes. I'm constantly trying to find new ways to teach English and literature. I currently work at a digital school, where I've been learning to blend traditional paper teaching styles with the computer-led world.

I grew up in a small town in Ohio, where after graduating I went to Ashland University for my bachelor's degree. Ashland was known as one of the top schools in the state for Education majors. During my time at the University, I graduated Cum Lade, as well as with a number of honors including the education honorary Kappa Delta Pi.
Outside of teaching, I love to read and write. It has always been a dream of mine to someday publish a book that my students would love to read.
