Description
In this Saskatchewan health unit, Grade 3 and 4 students will learn about the decisions they make and how their decisions affect those around them. They will learn how to make positive and informed decisions for themselves and decisions that are helpful to others.. They will also understand harmful decisions and practice saying “No” to decisions that can harm them or others. Finally, they will understand both positive and negative consequences and how to predict them.
This unit meets the outcomes for grades 3 and 4 Saskatchewan Health Goals.
Goal #2: Make informed decisions based on health-related knowledge
- Demonstrate the importance of investigating information for making informed decisions (gr. 3)
- Investigate the importance of personal responsibility and communication in making informed decisions (gr.4)
Lessons will fit into a 30-40 minute time slot.

1.Unit Introduction- class survey

3.Helpful versus Harmful- identify helpful or harmful decisions
4.Influence on Others- how others influence our decisions
5.When to say, “No.”- strategies to say "No"

8.Predicting consequences- apply decision making to personal life

This unit can also be done as a Power & Authority/ Leadership unit in social studies.
