Description

Interactive, differentiated, and organized for discussion! Students slide numbered eggs into the appropriate baskets.

Factoring is a skill that students need to practice constantly because it is so important in Algebra and beyond. This Google Slides activity is either a review of finding factors, or you can use it as an introduction to that concept.

Differentiated Options: With this activity, you get three options to choose from depending on the needs of your students. One option has students do all the work without guidance. A second option gives students the total sum of the eggs (factors) that will go in a basket. A third option gives students the number of eggs (factors) that go in each basket, as well as the sum of the eggs (factors) in each basket.

The Easel activity only has the first option, where students have to do the work without the total sum or the number of factors. This Easel activity is NOT self-checking.

Organization: Each slide has numbers that are either composite, prime, or square numbers. When I introduce factors, I always start with this organization so that the students can have an in-depth discussion around those concepts, answering questions like: Why do the baskets on the second slide only have two eggs? Why are there more eggs in some baskets than others? Why do the baskets on the third slide have an odd number of eggs?

  • Three slides: each with five factor baskets
  • Easel Activity
