Description

This unit includes ten DIGITAL informational passages that require students to use the text to PROVE their answers. The goal is for students to move beyond a literal understanding and to a deeper and more critical evaluation of the text. These passages will work best for second and third graders.

These high interest passages were created using the informational reading standards. Students are asked to determine the main idea, find evidence that supports the main idea, use context clues to determine the meaning of various words, create subheadings or discover the importance of the subheadings given, find reasons to support various points given by the author, explain the importance of the diagram or words in bold, and make inferences.
