Description
Teaching in a variety of ways makes learning interesting for students and for you. For my Beowulf unit, I do a two-part introduction the materials for which I have included here.
I begin with the presentation on Anglo Saxons and Beowulf and hand them notes that they can fill out while we walk through the presentation in class (Part 1). Then students do an exploration on their own which require them to watch informational videos and process what they've seen (Part 2). We then go over their answers in class as a way of reviewing materials (key included). I am always amazed at how much they retain when we do it this way. I have included everything you need before you dive in to reading.
Materials included:
PART 1: I begin with this presentation which I go through with them while they jot down notes in class:
1) Introduction to the Anglo Saxons and Beowulf (Powerpoint and PDF format)
2) Student notes (fill in the blank handout) to accompany introductory presentation (PDF format).
PART 2:Then I assign them this exploration to do on their own:
3) Beowulf - an exploration before reading with links (Powerpoint and PDF format)
4) Beowulf - an exploration, guided questions for students
5) Beowulf - an exploration, guided questions (answer key)
