Crash Course Liquid Awesome Properties of Water Guided Notes

Created by
Becca's Biome
This is a guided notes and discussion page that accompanies the video by Crash Course Biology, "Liquid Awesome." The content is used with permission from Crash Course Biology and is not to be sold or resold. Crash Course Biology videos are some of my favorites for bell work, discussions, and introduction or review of material. Guided notes help my students to keep pace with the videos, and provide a reference that they can use as a study help when preparing for assessments.

I've made this concept map to help my students differentiate between elements, compounds and mixtures. If time permits, as a summary of the topics, I would only give them the main outline and get them to fill in the definitions of the terms and the properties. Note: Poster is designed to be printed on A3-size paper. Click HERE for the editable copy in MS PowerPoint format.

Middle School Chemistry Review/Study Guide. This packet is heavy on the periodic table: how to read it, groups, periods, valance electrons, reactivity, chemical properties, and properties of metals, nonmetals, metalloids. This would be good for 6th or 8th grade review of chemistry. This does not have any APE MANN work, Lewis dot structure, or balancing this is mostly vocab work and reading the periodic table and how it is organized.

Sequence and brief description of topics covered for each week. For the most part, each unit follows the same sequence as in the corresponding packet, which are available for free. Units are built around anchoring phenomena and include engineering design tasks, all meeting the Next Generation Science Standards for the integrated model of 7th grade science in California. (NGSS are arranged differently for other states, so perhaps this is useful for more than just 7th grade.) To see how these top

Free Science Lab - Comparing Lather of Different Mixtures

This is a science lab that I did with my students. I wrote about it in this post. After collecting Samples of rain, spring, tap, sea and river water, we started off with equal volumes of each water sample with three drops of dish-washing liquid in each. After shaking them in unison, the students measured and recorded the height of the suds in each bottle to determine how hard or soft each sample is. You can use this as a sample lab to show your students how labs are written. I uploaded it in

Temperature, Volume, &Pressure Sketchnotes

Created by
Science 300
This is a simple sketch note or doodle note sheet that I created to add into my students' interactive science notebooks. On the top portion we discuss that as heat is added the temperature increases, which causes molecules to move faster, collide more frequently and with more force, and spread out (become less dense) which results in either the pressure or the volume increasing as well. We also discuss that as the volume increases molecules become less dense and have fewer collisions, resulting
