Blue Beat Seats - Beat Identification
Use "Blue Beat Seats" to teach the concept of beat. Students can put any rhythm into a seat as long as it uses only one beat (i.e. quarter note gets one seat, two eighth notes get one seat). This is very helpful when teaching half or whole notes. Students are able to see how many seats each rhythm is supposed to take up (whole notes get 4 seats, half notes get 2 seats).You can build a presentation to show this concept or just draw "seats" on a whiteboard with a blue marker.
