Theme Lesson Plan Common Core Aligned
This is a lesson/flipchart about theme that I produced for my 6th grade students. It includes a motivation video link (youtube video), an I do activity (or model) for me to complete for the class, a we do activity for the class to complete with me, and a you do activity for the students to complete individually. Finally, I have included the closure where students have to measure their own progress/mastery of the lesson's objective.

I have used this PowerPoint with seniors in high school whenever an essay assignment zeroes in on VOICE. Students are often confused between an author's voice a and a student writer's voice. This PowerPoint explains VOICE as it includes 8 basic elements that make up voice. The lesson gears students to an understanding of VOICE in not only fiction, but also in their own writing. Examples are used throughout to facilitate understanding.
