This is a 27 slide presentation to help you introduce the haiku form and its history. I created it for 7th and 8th graders, but it could easily be used for middle, and high school classes. Topics covered: haiku form, syllable count, kigo, renga, style history of the royal and monistic houses, evolution of haiku, old and new examples of haiku (all in English), serious and funny traditions. There is a haiku assignment (free product on this site) that can be used with this presentation.
