Life Skills: Pet Care/Responsibilities Internet Scavenger Hunt
This is an online scavenger hunt using credible websites for students to find information on how much it costs to own a pet. They need to find information about what it means to microchip, neuter and adopt a pet. They also have to think critically about the benefits of buying from a breeder vs. adopting from the local shelter. This was done in conjunction with a Community Based Instructional Outing to the local pet shelter and was designed for a secondary level moderate-severe special education

Students answer the questions based on their post-secondary goal. By researching the requirements of various goals (college, military, or employment) students begin to think about a plan for attaining their goal.
Their plan is then presented to the class, teacher, IEP team through a Power Point presentation..
