I have created a SMARTboard lesson that introduces students to plagiarism. The lesson covers what plagiarism is, who can commit plagiarism, and even some of the consequences of it. It includes several famous examples of "borrowing work" and has many links to additonal information for discussion. It also include a short quiz.

My students regularly score higher on reading and writing tests regardless of the format of the tests. Teaching students to write formally for academic purpose can be tricky. Plagiarism/Research Lesson Plan using Facebook
This is a very engaging and thorough plagiarism lesson plan that also works with source citation. It is easily adaptable for Smart Board use and for student computer use. I begin by giving students an article that we read aloud. I then give them two highlighters -one color for "facts" and one color for anything they may "quote" (including key words and phrases, not just sentences). I find source cards completely outdated so I created what I call a "source page." The citation for the source

Expository Research 5-Paragraph Essay SMART Response Assessment
After learning the components of a 5-paragraph essay, students can take this as a formative assessment to show the teacher that they are ready to submit their final draft. If students do not do well with it, the teacher can see what they may need to revisit and revise, before students are finished with the final product. Answer Key is embedded in the document.

Life Skills Part 3 of 3
This Flipchart series (Parts 1-3) were split up due to the large size of the original file. They cover a Life Skills curriculum for an entire academic year. The lessons focus on basic grammar, appropriate and inappropriate behaviors, goal setting, navigating social relationships, the development of self-advocacy strategies, measuring time, and reading comprehension. The C.L.O.V.E.R. system of teaching syllable awareness is used.
