Social Media Rhetorical Reading and Writing Unit for ELD
Included is the materials for a unit I designed for beginner/low intermediate ELD students. It is a thematic unit based around social media with three articles that I edited to match an appropriate Lexile level.
There are word sorting activities (based on parts-of-speech) with key vocabulary from each of the articles. There are also embedded lessons on syntax using Spivey's growing sentences using this key vocabulary. Finally, there are scaffolded writing tasks using sentence starters and Cloze
