RIRA stands for Repeated Interactive Read Alouds. My school has recently started using the RIRA model during our designated ELD time. Informational Text Blank-Notes-Graphic Organizer
I created this organizer to support some of my ESE students when they read and analyze informational text/articles. It allows them to jot down notes from each paragraph and then make a summary of the entire text. Very easy to read and use. You will use this over and over text after text!! The students LOVE using it. They say it really helps them understand what they are reading.

Main Idea and Details Interactive Notebook Anchor Chart and Activity
This activity was used to test my student's knowledge of main idea and details. After reading a story, the students wrote the main idea on the pizza crust and the details on the toppings. You can differentiate the activity by having students complete different numbers of toppings.
This also includes a notebook anchor chart for students to refer back to when using main idea and details.

This eleven page reading guide lends itself to cause and effect.
When scholars complete the following questions, the teacher can rephrase the sentences to show cause and effect. For example, Molly balanced pennies on her teeth and the effect was the children smiled. OR Cause: children smiled EFFECT: Ronald felt foolish

Sticky Note Notetaking sheet
I use this when students are reading and need to take notes. I came up with this when we were using full technology during COVID and they couldn't put sticky notes on their digital books. Now I use it because it is cheaper than giving students a bunch of sticky notes that they will just lose or throw away! In primary, I have used it for students to monitor comprehension. In upper elementary, students can use this paper while doing research or reading a book they are writing a report on.
