Two Washington Irving Stories Compare and Contrast
I developed this assignment when teaching Washington Irving. The curriculum required "The Devil and Tom Walker," so in addition, I showed student the Disney cartoon of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." This assignment requires students to not only compare the two stories, but also figure out Irving's classic American writing style.
