Wants vs. Needs
This is a great activity to introduce and practice the idea of wants versus needs. There are large pictures that you can print and use in either a large group or small group and try to sort them. This generates great discussions! Then there is a smaller version(2 pages) to print that you can have the kids do on their own (cut and glue and sort) to assess their knowledge. Marzano "Scales" for the Music Classroom
"Scales" (basically a rubric) on the 4-point scale used in the Marzano evaluation system. Rubric includes rhythmic accuracy, note accuracy, steady beat, tone quality, rehearsal and concert etiquette, and posture. I teach 6 classes, 2 orchestra, 2 chorus, 1 guitar, and 1 musical theatre. Spanish Turkey Color by Verb
This is great practice with the not only the colors, but also verb conjugation. The key is based on the Spanish Subject Pronouns (i.e. yo=rojo), and you, the teacher fill in the spaces of the pictures with the different forms of the verb you would like students to practice (i.e. ser, soy, eres...). You can use this activity as an assessment, as a meaningful filler activity the day before the holiday when classes get a little crazy, or even as extra credit.
