15 Yearbook Advertising Projects
This advertising assessment contains fifteen advertising projects to promote awareness and the sale of the yearbook. Projects range from student photo competitions to contacting parents about buying a book.
Students are required to complete 5 of the fifteen projects and write a journal entry about the effect of their marketing endeavors. I recommend giving students a couple of class periods and two weeks outside of class to plan and complete their projects.

Test Taking Strategies / Follow Directions Prank/Fake Quiz
This quiz is a fun and funny way to get students to realize they need to pay attention to directions.
There is a list of numerous steps to complete, which can actually be fun for students. HOWEVER, the first step says to "read all directions before continuing" and the last step says "only do..." so most students mess this up and do all the steps as they go along. My STAR Test Goals - Student goal setting for standardized tests
This is a fully editable .DOC file that I have used to help my students set goals for their STAR test throughout the school year.
As a bonus, students can practice their measurement & data skills.
I have used this in a whole group setting, making an anchor chart with good test taking practices in order to help students brainstorm for the "two things I will do to reach my goal". I have also used this leading up to their STAR test and post STAR test during individual student conferencing.

Maniac Magee Book Project
This a great end of the book activity. The students use details throughout the story to create a map of the main setting Two Mills, PA. This is the assignment for students along with pictures of finished products to use as an example! One way to use this is as a send home project once the book has been read. Another way is to let students work in groups to complete the map while in class. I have done this project both ways. Kids are really engaged!
