This is a quiet, ambient recording of an excerpt from Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried. It runs approximately 6:45 and contains some images of combat violence, as one would expect of a recollection of a Vietnam in-country tour experience.

Arthur C. Clarke's great science fiction suspense story. A terrific 12 minute long story to teach setting, atmosphere, and twist endings. I recorded this story for my own scholars to listen to as they read along on their own. It worked out so well, and this story is not yet among the public domain, so I offer it to you here for free.
