This activity encourages it's users to be creative, budget, take personal and dietary needs into consideration. Young adults, have trouble thinking about others and planning ahead. This activity encourages youth to do both of these.
The user is given a budget, items with prices and friends with dietary preferences and needs. After the user chooses meal plan, he or she must then answer comprehension and critical thinking questions about diet, budgeting, and personal choices.

This is my go to, on-the-fly sub plan. This sub plan is specific to the Nutrition Action Newsletter (NAN). I have a stack of Nutrition Action Newsletter articles for students to choose from with a bunch of the student sub plans photocopied for the times that I am absent unexpectedly. I find the NAN are interesting reads for my students.
