Here is a great October / Halloween poetry analysis for middle school to 9th or 10th grade and an annual favorite among my Gr 9/10 students. What helps make this a student favorite is pairing this poem with Loreena Mckennit's song/ballad version on Halloween! Listen to Loreena Mckennit's version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixi4jz0Gn4E.An editable word.doc to edit as needed.

A song a day
Motivate the most unmotivated students. Use a song a day for reading and reflecting as a starter or "Do Now" for any Language Arts, Civics, ESL, or music class. Worksheets are easy to understand. All students have to do is try. There really isn't any wrong answer except for not trying. The only disability in life is a poor attitude. You can't say you don't know something if haven't even tried.

Students love the new Great Gatsby movie (2013) not only because Leonardo diCaprio, but because the soundtrack is novel and wonderful and unique and modern. Given that it is so easy to grab the students in with the modern tunes, comparing the themes and issues with those lyrics along with the primary sources of songs of that time have turned out to be a fun lesson using evidence from the text as a secret bonus.

A fun upbeat song that has a great subjunctive use! (Quire que muevas). Define some vocabulary words with kids, have them write a quick 2 sentence story, then listen to the song as students fill in the blanks. it goes a little fast, so we listened to the first part 4 different times, each time focusing on a different blank. This is a fun brain-break-wiggle song, perfect for a Música Miércoles or just a Friday when everyone is fried. My students really got in to it.We choreographed a dance for
