Huron Carol Orff Arrangement in Aeolian Mode
Considered Canada's first Christmas Carol, the melody of the Huron Carol is an excellent piece for introducing or reviewing aeolian mode on barred Orff instruments and for discussing early Canadian music and early Canadians. The Seven Step Strategy for Solving Word Problems
I created this strategy for my third grade students when I noticed that they continued to experience difficulties solving word problems, even after strategies from the math program had been taught and practiced. The Seven Step Strategy includes a song to help students remember the strategy AND can be used on pretty much every word problem! My students experienced much more success in understanding and solving word problems after I presented the Seven Step Strategy.
