As a personal attendee of 8 years of all-girls school, and a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, this is a product I created to help engage fellow Swift fans in math, particularly to help girls feel competent and confident when working through problems. Doubles Song / Doubling Rhyme / Multiplication / Two Times Table
I wrote this rhyme to help second and third-graders memorize their doubles facts. While they often could double 1-5 with ease, they tended to get mixed up with the products of 6, 7, 8 and 9 when multiplied by two. After "singing" this enough times, I could hear my students whispering the lines to themselves when doing computations! Eventually, as with anything that we memorize, they needed to refer to the rhyme less and less, and eventually it was committed to memory.
