India: Mohenjo-Daro Dig Activity
This is a great activity to introduce students to Ancient India the civilization of Mohenjo-Daro!
In this activity, students examine 6 artifacts. They need to determine what the artifacts are made of, what they could be used for, and what they might actually be.
My students loved doing this because they wanted to find out what each artifact was. I usually like to leave them hanging at the end of class, and won't give them the answers until the next day.

Diwali Lesson & Celebration
These Slides will walk your students through a Diwali celebration in a fun and informative way! Students watch a video and do five activities to correspond to the days of Diwali. You will need some supplies (full list included), but you can also make a copy of the Slides and adapt them to the supplies you have on hand. This is a comedy I wrote to elaborate upon some of the entertaining and sometimes brutal stories and legends surrounding China's first Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di. It has some dark humor but is totally school appropriate. My students loved acting out this play and learned much about Chinese history.
