End of Year Play: "God's Golden Oldies: A Tuneful Trip Through Time"

Performers and audiences will love "God's Golden Oldies: A Tuneful Trip Through Time". Directors will enjoy it too, since it works well with any size group, and is simple to stage. At 20 minutes long, including songs, it's perfect for an end of the year performance. The story: A family rides in their Uncle Emmet's DeLorean (yes, that one). They travel back in time and meet four special Christian musicians from the 1770's to the 1970's.

Script only. Suggested song list included, but encouraged to adapt songs from your own music library. Full length production for 22-73 speaking parts. Michael, the school bully, terrorizes the students as they celebrate the last few days before Christmas break. He lives with loving, kindhearted foster parents whom he distrusts because of his own history of abandonment by his own birth parents. One of the challenges every year as an elementary school teacher is finding something appropriate for the students to perform in the Christmas concert. Luckily, I love to write so very often I was able to create a play or recitations so that every child in my class who wanted a speaking part could have one, and those who preferred NOT to speak alone, could chime in with other students. In this piece I have written an opening and closing recitation for a Christmas concert as well as 20 individ

Ant Chant for insect unit

This is a short army type chant. It can be used to help kids remember important facts about ants. Very cute for a short little production for a talent show or awards assembly. It was written with The Ants Go Marching tune in mind, but is to be done as a cool chant. I have done this with 1st-3rd grade. We always march out to the baby version of the song and then put on sunglasses for the actual performance. The kids love it!

This is a fun filled play for Pre-K, K, and 1st Graders. It uses humor to teach the important lesson about choices and consequences. The play is based on familiar nursery rhymes and brings each to life as the gingerbread man visits his friends. In the end he learns making good choices is the best thing to do. The costumes may be full costumes or you may use only headbands. Of course, using full costumes are so adorable. The play may be shortened or lengthened according to your classroom needs by

The Pancake's Escape

This is a script for a pre-school or kindergarten drama club play for 16+ children. It is a story of a pancake that runs amok. It is like the story of the gingerbread man in that is has repetition and an easy rhyming meter. The ending is user friendly and no one gets eaten. It could be used with a unit on community helpers as it has some ( postal, police, doctor, nurse, teacher, construction, baker) chasing the pancake. There is a song at the end that sums up the story! The Missing Kitties is a play about a girl who loves her cell phone so much that she doesn’t pay any attention to her loved kitties. They run away and all the inhabitants of their fantasy world go nuts trying to find them. There are firemen and superheroes. It is a fun and silly play that the kids loved doing as much as the parents loved watching. Hope you want to laugh out loud with your kiddos . enjoy, Mary
