9/11 First Hand Accounts- Analysis Charts
This is a great way of teaching about 9/11 in the High School setting using RI standards, and incorporating analysis. This starts with a discussion about the "inevitability" of 9/11 becoming a topic reserved to history books, and then incorporates a modeling step to teach students how to use the analysis chart. Finally, students choose a first hand account that they want to read and do an analysis chart independently.

Analyzing Masculine Stereotypes (Nonfiction Reading & Research): ELA 9-12
In this three-day, CCSS-aligned unit, students closely read Gretel Ehrlich's "About Men" and discover the ways in which cowboys differ from their stereotypes.
