This is a PowerPoint presentation that list's famous/non-famous African American mathematicians, engineers, inventors, scientist, etc. I wanted to include Black History Month in my Math class while making it fun and interesting, and this is a great way to do so. It takes about 1-2 min every day to read the slides and I feel as thought the students enjoy it.

Community building is imperative, especially during the first days of school. Use this activity to encourage teamwork, effective communication, collaboration, and observation skills. Students must work together to replicate the Lego structure you build and display somewhere in your classroom. Then, they must reflect on the process and identify their team successes and failures.

Eiffel Tower Activity
Use this PPT to introduce and act out the history of the Eiffel Tower during WWII. Then have students break up into teams and make their own Eiffel Towers out of stacking cups. Give each time something throwable (marshmallows, cotton balls, paper balls, etc) and have them try to knock down the other teams towers.
