Common Core W.7.1c cultural activities for Google Apps
Holidays Around the World Writing Project, Leveled, Differentiated!
Students will pick a country they are interested in studying and answer questions about the holiday traditions in that country, then write an essay in paragraph form, using the questions as a graphic organizer. This product includes geography, writing, and social studies components. There are 2 levels for the writing portion, the first level contains a fill in the blanks essay. Level 2 is for intermediate learners who are able to free write their answers in essay form.

A great interactive powerpoint to use for the week of 9/11! Using the book, "The Man That Walks Between the Two Towers" written by Mordicai Gerstai, the slides ask questions from the book and based off of the videos. The story is a different twist to exposing a younger audience to the events of 9/11. The videos are to give students a visual for 9/11 events and so that you can explain 9/11 and it's historical, tragic, events.The link on the first slides goes to a read aloud video. Enjoy!

A Long Walk to Water: Refugee Journal Project
In this extension activity, students will create a refugee journal based on a character they make similar to Salva Dut. In their journals, they will trace the refugee's process of fleeing from their homeland and arriving at the camps. A detailed rubric is included.
