December/Christmas/Winter Journal Writing Prompt Booklet
This is a 7 page booklet that features two journal entries on each page. The first is a title page, so there are 12 writing prompts. Each page has several lines for a student response, as well as a box to draw a picture of the journal entries.
These half sheets are to be cut out and given to students one at a time. At the end of the month, just before break, I like to punch holes and bind the journals for students to keep as a momento.

Mixed number fraction addition activity - game using dice, 5.NF.A.1
I used this 1 page activity with small groups of two students. The students roll the dice to fill in the mixed number fraction boxes and then they worked through completing the calculations. Student groups can also trade their sheet with another group for calculation completion. Mitten Math Match
Set of 20 pairs of mittens. Each pair has a number from 1-20 on one mitten and the corresponding number of snowflakes on the other mitten. Match the number mitten with the mitten that has the correct number of snowflakes. Skills targeted include number recognition, 1:1 correspondence, number sequencing. This is a one page activity that uses dominoes to create the fraction and a dice to determine the whole number. I completed this activity with groups of two students. I had the partners fill in the sheet and then trade it with a fellow group who solved the problems. This is a 1 page activity for fraction by fraction multiplication and fraction by whole number multiplication. that I used with small groups of two students. Students draw cards from a face down deck to fill in the fraction and whole number boxes (they arranged the cards in whatever way they chose to create the fractions).
