I created this Model UN unit for Grade 6 Social Studies. After introducing Model United Nations (MUN) to my students, I arranged students into member state groups (eg. India, Belgium, etc). I based this unit on two themes: water and refugees. I led a lesson on an issue in Canada (eg. Canadian boiled water advisories in First Nation communities) and then set students off in their groups for the next few days to research water problems in their own member states.
