TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 7th grade Texas History teacher for over 10 years and U.S. History for 5 years. I also worked as a P.E. teacher, Alternative Classroom teacher, and did my student teaching in Modern U.S. History. Besides my teaching role, I am also an Academic Team Leader, History Department Head, and teaching mentor. I have previously taught several professional development classes, including a Teaching with Love & Logic class, Interactive Notebooking class, and an introduction to History Alive.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a very hands-on teacher who loves to bring fun and physical activity into my history classroom. We use Interactive Student Notebooks in my classroom to keep students organized and learning. I incorporate many History Alive teaching methods to my lessons throughout the year. Always learning and adapting, I try to add new "spice" to my teaching each and every year.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My school's Teacher of the Month in February 2012. I was also named Teacher of the Month in November 2013 and our district's Teacher of the Month in December 2013. I was later named the Mad Rock Teacher of the Month in January of 2016.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.A./History from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a wife of 22 years, mother of two boys, ages 19 and 16, and a Christian.
