I have worked in special education for 8 years. I taught high school ED/BD self contained classroom. During this time I taught American and World History, Algebra 1, Geometry, Speech and Freshman English. I have also taught high school multineeds: independent living skills, life skills math, reading, vocational education, biology, speech, and consumer education. I currently teach in a special education transition program and provide instruction in cooking, money management, employment skills, independent living skills, work social skills, interpersonal social skills, community skills, vocational skills and recreation and leisure.
My teaching style is hands-on, experienced based. Students are provided with several opportunities to learn, practice, and apply skills taught in the classroom. Students are also provided opportunities to practice these skills in the community or other real world settings.
