TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 3rd grade for 5 years and 6-8th grades Math for 5 years. Currently, I teach 8th grade Math in an inner-city public school in Phoenix, AZ. I have also been the grade level leader for the past 3 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I design lessons that leverage middle schoolers' natural tendency to socialize by giving them structured opportunities to engage cooperatively with the material. I frequently use cooperative learning strategies to empower students to hold one another accountable for learning. I am also a strong proponent of hands on experiences, games, and the use of math manipulatives.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I taught classes of 70 students in our school's multi-purpose room and saw great student achievement!! Read about it here! I also received our district's Excellence in Education Award - 2016

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned a BS in Computer Science from Bucknell University in 2007. I joined Teach for America after graduating and earned a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2009. I am highly qualified to teach middle school Math.
