I was a classroom teacher for 15-years at a Middle School in downtown Boulder, CO. I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders pre-algebra and algebra courses. The school was represented by a diverse population of students/families that was openly welcomed in my classroom where learners from all backgrounds were encouraged and supported throughout their learning experience.

I regularly used various forms of instructions with my students to provide them with consistency and predictability. Some of those methods included direct instruction, assigned/random group work activities, centers, investigative practices, question development, student-led research and instruction, big concept projects, etc. My teaching style/practices/methods were adapted to representing the math concepts in the best ways possible to increase student engagement and understanding.
